Department Colloquium: Marc Maufort

Professor Marc Maufort will give a talk on “O’Neill’s Legacy in Contemporary Multi-ethnic American Theatre and Drama.” The talk will examine O’Neill’s enduring impact on recent multi-ethnic plays by writers such as Suzan-Lori Parks, First Nations playwrights, Velina Hasu Houston, Jose Rivera etc.

Marc Maufort is Professor of American Studies at Université Libre de Bruxelles. He obtained his Ph.D from the University of Brussels in 1986. His major publications in the field of American literature include: Eugene O'Neill and the Emergence of American Drama (editor, 1989), Songs of American Experience: the Vision of O 'Neill and Melville (1990), Staging Difference: Cultural Pluralism in American Theatre and Drama (editor, 1995), and Labyrinth of Hybridities: Avatars of I'Neillain Realism in Multi-ethnic American Drama (2010).
