Film Studies
The Department of Theater and Film offers an undergraduate major in Film Studies as well as a minor in Film Studies. Both programs concentrate on film history and criticism, with some writing and directing courses available. Students are recommended to enroll in DRAM 2120, INTRODUCTION TO CINEMA as early as possible in their UGA coursework.
The Film Studies MAJOR requires 27 credits from specific courses offered in the Department of Theater and Film, as well as cross-listed classes from other departments, including Comparative Literature and English, among others. All majors must complete History of Cinema I and II (DRAM 4250 and 4260), as well as Film Theory (DRAM 5900).
The Film Studies MINOR requires five classes (information is available from the Department office). Several Computer Animation courses also count toward the minor.
