Congratulations to our doctoral candidates and new and recent PhDs

The Graduate School has selected Jieun Lee to receive a 2017-18 Dissertation Completion Award for her research on "Performing the Korean Diaspora in Contemporary Theater and Performance Art in the United States of America” and has awarded Jean Young a 2017 Summer Doctoral Research Fellowship and Qianru Li a 2017 Innovative and Interdisciplinary Research Grant.

The Graduate School honored Dr. Charles Adron Farris with the 2017 Excellence in Research by Graduate Students Award in the Humanities & Fine Arts. Dr. Farris completed a certificate in Native American Studies and PhD in Theatre & Performance Studies with a dissertation entitled "These Hills, This Trail: Tsalagi (Cherokee) Drama and the Power of Change / Change of Power.”

Finally, April brought two successful dissertation defenses: Kristyl Tift, "African American Lesbian Identity in Performance,” and Geoffrey Douglas, "Play Ball! Paradigms of Masculinity in Sports of the United States."
