Audition Preparation & Callback Information

Please prepare two contrasting monologues (memorized) not to exceed a combined total of three minutes (you will be timed and stopped at 3 minutes). For those who wish to be considered for the musical Cabaret, we require 16 bars of a prepared song.

For those who plan to SING at Auditions:

Please bring your recorded music on your smart phone and a speaker will be provided for you to plug in.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so you can fill out an information sheet. Bring your Fall class schedule with you to auditions so you can include any potential conflicts you might have on your information sheet.

More specific requirements for the Audition preparation will be posted soon.

Callback lists for the various productions will be posted Friday evening August 18, both on the callboard located in the basement of the building opposite the vending machines and on the Department of Theatre & Film Studies website, www.drama.uga.edu.

“Sides” for callbacks will also be posted on the Department website by 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 15: www.drama.uga.edu.

Sides are small sections of the script that directors will ask that you read during callbacks. Please take time to peruse these sides in advance in preparation for your callbacks.

Please be sure to check callback lists for the specific shows, locations and times you may be called for.

Please note: The following roles have been pre-cast to satisfy requirements of the MFA Acting degree candidates as third-year, thesis projects. These actors are enrolled in the three-year professional actor training program at the Master of Fine Arts level, a graduate, terminal degree.

The Last Witch:
Janet Horne - Anna Pieri
Elspeth Begg - Brittney Harris

Cabaret:
Sally Bowles - Katie Butcher
The Emcee - Larry Cox Jr.

UGA Theatre productions generally rehearse 5 evenings per week (Mon - Fri, roughly 4 hrs per night) plus one rehearsal per weekend (either Saturday or Sunday, 5-6 hrs). The Last Witch and Animal Farm may likely rehearse for 4-5 weeks. Cabaret will likely rehearse 6-7 weeks due to the added challenges of producing a musical. Please understand these time frames before committing to audition for the UGA Theatre season.
