Position Announcement: Academic Professional in Media Technology

The University of Georgia Department of Theatre and Film Studies seeks an academic professional in media technology beginning August 1, 2018. The academic year salary is $50,000. This non-tenure-track position is renewable on a yearly basis subject to satisfactory performance and the continued availability of funding.
The media technologist provides day-to-day technical support for faculty teaching courses incorporating media technology such as DV Video Production, 3D Printing, Directing for Cinema, Interactive Media and Live Performance, and Acting for the Camera; works with faculty and graduate student media designers to implement media into departmental productions; and manages a check-out system for media equipment.
The instructional load for this position is four courses each year. These courses will typically include the department’s required graduate-level courses Media Studio I-IV along with courses in the individual’s areas of expertise, which may include game design, animation, video production, or sound production.
Qualifications: M.F.A. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant area such as theatre, video, or media production.

The Department: The Department of Theatre and Film Studies is a unit of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. It offers B.A. degrees in theatre and in film studies, MFA degrees in performance, design/technology and dramatic media, and the Ph.D. in theatre and performance studies. The department encompasses the applied and scholarly study of drama in a wide range of media, including stage, film and 3D computer animation.
