Student Loans

The Office of Student Financial Aid assists students whose personal and family resources are not adequate to cover the expenses involved in attending the University of Georgia. This office can assist students in arranging for low-interest and payment-deferred loans, as well as for other types of on-campus employment.

Student Workers

The Department retains a number of part-time sudent workers who aid in the operations of the office, audio-visual/media shop, the scene/lighting/prop shop, the costume/makeup shop, the box office, and other departmental programs. Undergraduate students majoring in drama are given preference for student jobs. Anyone interested in a position as a student worker in the Department should see Program Coordinator or the faculty member in charge of the area of interest. The Department also encourages volunteer helpers in any of the production areas, but any student wishing to volunteer must first have the express permission of the faculty supervisor of the area. All student volunteers my only work under the direct supervision of a faculty or staff member. All other student workers must be either on payroll or working as a class assignment. Applicants for student jobs should be aware that the Department follows the policies of the University's Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity programs.

Cost of Living

The University of Georgia is located in Athens, Georgia, a city of about 80,000 located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, about 70 miles northeast of Atlan a. Reasonable housing may be found in University dormitories or married housing apa rtments, as well as in numerous apartments and rental houses located in the communty. Cost of living expenses are lower than those found in most urban communities.
