Joelle Ré Arp-Dunham began the PhD program at UGA in Theatre & Performance Studies in the fall of 2014. As a director, actor, media designer and educator in both theatre and film, she is interested in how the cognitive sciences may lead to new pedagogical strategies in Directing and Acting and the effect they may have on the respective theoretic discourses. Other interests include non-western theatre techniques and theory, the intersections between theatre, film and performance media, audience response theory and the use of theatre techniques as therapy for people with dementia and other cognitive difficulties. In addition, Ms. Arp-Dunham is the Producing Artistic Director of The Circle Ensemble Theatre Company, a professional nonprofit theatre whose mission is to be a catalyst for personal and social evolution through excellence in the art of theatre, and to play a vital role in the cultural life of Northeast Georgia.
