Roy Brooks is a Ph.D. candidate in Theatre and Performance Studies with a specialization in Christianity and Theatre, 1820-Present. Other research areas include medieval theatre, theatre in the Americas, and performance art. His dissertation theorizes and documents the queer Catholic imaginary from the perspective of performance, drawing on queer theology and theory to trace how performance shapes queer Catholic identities, beliefs, and publics. Roy is currently the Secretary for the Religion and Theatre Focus Group of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE).
