A brand new christian school opening in Fall 2007, Strong Rock Christian School plans to deliver an unprecedented learning environment for children from pre-K through high school. The SRCS website is a complete solution with a custom template and a backend content management system using Joomla.
In meeting the clients needs, there were several modifications and extensions made to the Joomla CMS. A custom module was built to allow one to pick a custom banner at the top of each page from a folder of images. If a menu item didn't have a banner assigned, it would fallback to using its parent's banner, and would further fallback to a random or default banner. This enabled the client to have the ability to set a custom banner for each section as a whole and also set a page specifically.
Several 3rd party packages were also integrated to increase functionality with minimal extra expense. In order to make a detached, multi-level navigation (top nav and side nav), I used the 3rd party modules exmenu and exmenu_pathway. Additional features including calendar and forms was provided with the JEvents and FacileForms.
