Newmuz is an internet radio player dedicated to playing an endless stream of fresh new music from independent and unsigned artists. A completely free service that allows any artist, big or small, the opportunity to share their music with the masses. Our goal is to make it dirt simple for our users to have immediate access to cool new music and let them decide what is good and what is not.

While still in its early stages, Newmuz is a fully functional music player. Artists can create accounts, upload songs, and invite band members to share their artist account. Registered users can rate the music and replay recently streamed music. Some of the planned features include having a local music station, user preferences and filters, and user friendships for sharing music.

Newmuz is programmed in Ruby on Rails with TextMate, Subversion, MySQL, and lighty for development. Currently, the application is deployed with Apache and FCGI, but we are testing with a Mongrel cluster and evaluating new web hosts. All code and Flash are mine, and the art belongs to Matt McKenny.
