Auditions: "Here's Where I Stand" Musical Cabaret

Heres
Virtual

DEADLINE: Saturday, Oct. 24 by 11:59pm

What is it?:

Here’s Where I Stand will be a (roughly) 60-minute pre-recorded video cabaret with 2-3 large group numbers, several solos and perhaps a couple small group (2-3 people) songs. Large group numbers will be chosen with input from all involved (with the exception of the title number). Solos/duets/trios will be researched and selected by individual students with assistance and guidance from the creative team. While the creative team has final approval over song choices, they will make every effort to help students select repertoire that helps them express whatever it is they’re wanting to express right now. Music transpositions are possible and will take place when appropriate. The title of the cabaret comes from the song, “Here’s Where I Stand” from the movie, Camp. Here’s a link to the original performance of the song in the movie.

Auditions:

Director: Michael Hadary, Musical Director: Rachel Townes,

Choreographer: Lisa Fusillo

Video Release: February 26th- March 1st

We will be accepting video submissions only. Please contact Michael Hadary at mhadary@uga.edu if this is an issue. To be considered, students should submit their headshot and resume along with a prepared video/videos of one or two contrasting song cuts that are each 60 seconds or less. Songs can be from any genre (MT, Pop, rock, folk, etc.…really whatever). Make sure you are easily seen and heard in these videos.

Please use some form of accompaniment - piano/guitar/karaoke track. Please also submit two to four sentences about what it is you’d like to say with your art if cast. This could be in regard to the world at large or your own personal life experiences. Whatever you choose, we are looking for you in your work. Lastly, please also submit a short list of two to three songs and links to videos of your preferred versions of them (whether originals or covers) that you feel could allow you to express where “you stand.” Your audition songs do not have to be one of these listed songs. If you can’t find any songs that apply, that’s alright. If cast, the creative team will help you find something appropriate to your desired expression. Submissions should be made here:

and are due by 11:59PM on Saturday, October 24

To reiterate, submissions should include four items: Headshot/Resume, video(s) of auditionees performing one or two contrasting songs, a few sentences on what they’d like to say with their art, and 2-3 song choices with video links they feel would allow them to express themselves.

*Note: If you’re also auditioning for the Musical Theatre Certificate, you may use your audition song(s) for both Here’s Where I Stand and the MTC audition, however, please be aware the MTC submission is due by October 20th).

If you have any questions, please email Michael Hadary at mhadary@uga.edu.
