ABOUT

Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest is a razor-sharp comedy of double lives, social climbing, and delightfully bad decisions. When two young bachelors begin bending the truth to escape the pressures of polite society, a tangled web of mistaken identities, romantic chaos, and biting satire quickly spins out of control. Overflowing with Wilde’s signature wit and endlessly quotable dialogue, the play gleefully skewers status, sincerity, and the absurd performance of respectability. More than a century after its premiere, The Importance of Being Earnest remains as clever, mischievous, and laugh-out-loud funny as ever.
