Once you have reached 60 credit hours, Dina will be your advisor, but she can also answer general questions about the major even before she is your advisor. She has an open-door policy in general when she’s not in meetings or advising appointments, especially during drop-add week and around the time of registration when possible. Official advising appointments must be made with SAGE. Here’s some great lower division advising and general advising info from Franklin. Need to know: departmental advising appointments For Dina's advisees, keep the following in mind: You should plan to get advised early if possible. If you wait until the last minute or no-show an earlier appointment, you may very well have to register later than you would have if you'd made an appointment before registration began. You could miss out on getting high demand classes. She usually sets up appointment slots a month in advance and then adds more appointments throughout the semester. She sends out messages via SAGE when she adds additional appointments. She also has drop-in hours during the semester for general questions and follow-up. Advising appointments are usually in-person, but if you have a contagious illness please do not bring that into her office as she would rather pivot to Zoom or reschedule. Please avoid no-showing appointments or cancelling at the last minute (when possible; sometimes it's unavoidable). This uses time slots that could have gone to other students needing an appointment. Dina cannot guarantee she can reschedule with you before start of registration in these cases, especially if they are late in the semester. RECOMMENDED: if you are on Hope or Zell, find out before your appointment how many hours of eligibility you will have remaining after the current semester. This will help you plan how many hours to take each semester/time to graduation/costs. Do you have questions about registration, need permission of department, etc.?
