Welcome to the UGA Department of Theatre and Film Studies

Welcome to the Department of Theatre & Film Studies. We offer both undergraduate and graduate studies in Theatre and Film. We are proud of the work done by our 21 faculty members, four distinguished adjunct faculty members, three full-time staff members, and 36 graduate assistants.

The Department of Theatre & Film Studies is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) and is also a member of the University Resident Theatre Association (URTA).

THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS

The cast and crew of UGA Theatre's production of Little Shop of Horrors (April 2024).

UGA Theatre currently produces four shows annually, two per semester. The first production of each semester is held in the Cellar Theatre, an intimate, 100-seat black box venue. The second production of each semester is held in the magnificent Fine Arts Theatre, a historic space that was renovated in 2007 to reflect its original 1940s splendor. Our productions offer students a wide variety of opportunities both on stage and off: performing, costuming, makeup, scenic design, stage management, scene building, painting, sound design, lighting design, front-of-house work, and much more. Audiences can expect productions that challenge convention and provide fresh, engaging takes on both classic plays and new works.
